The journey

Every stage has a date, a distance and a point on the map. If we write that a day was long, you can look up how many kilometres that was.

Our route,
stage by stage.

The line is our real trace, recorded with a GPS tracker. 22 stages are written up so far — more will follow. Pick a name from the list and the map shows where it was.

The figures, with sources

how many kilometres a motorhome covers in an average year. It is what makes our 18,869 mean something: if the average is five times lower, «we travelled a lot» stops being an impression.
da scrivereda trovare
how many days a year a motorhome is actually used. Our 371 consecutive days only mean something next to this figure.
da scrivereda trovare
our distance in 371 days, measured by the tracker and not estimated: 51 kilometres a day on average, less than a commuter

Every figure carries its source and the date we checked it. If a source changes or disappears, the figure leaves this page.

Practical, from experience

  1. Stop early. The most useful pause of our first month was twelve days still on day 22: it felt like wasted time and it held everything else up.
  2. Record your position from day one. The track is not only a memory: it is the most solid evidence of where you actually were, and it has uses well beyond the blog.
  3. Count driving days, not kilometres. A year at 51 km a day is a sustainable rhythm; the same distance in three months is not.
