A year ago we were on day 41. Here is what happened in the other 330.
Our last published piece is dated 15 September 2025 and ends on day forty-one, at Punta Prosciutto. Since then the tracker has recorded another 16,289 kilometres and we have not written a line about them.
It is not that nothing happened. In October we drove back up through Italy and crossed into France on the 26th. On 8 November we were in Spain. We spent the winter in Andalusia. On 23 March we reached Tarifa, the southernmost point of the whole journey. On the 27th we crossed into Portugal, and on 11 April we touched the westernmost point: minus 9.11 degrees of longitude, the cliffs above Cape St Vincent. In June we were in Murcia, in July we crossed France, and on 1 August we were back in Italy. On 5 August the tracker puts us in Udine, in the same courtyard where we made our first long stop in August 2025.
The reason the blog stopped is less romantic than the journey: there are two of us, we have two small children, and the hours for writing are the ones after they fall asleep. Writing a post for every day, while the days keep coming, is a race you lose from the start. We lost it in September and only noticed now.
So we will not catch up on the 330 days one by one. We will write them by theme and by place, which is faster and worth more: what a year like this does to you, what broke, what we understood about school by visiting it in four countries, where we slept well and where we would not go back.
